Towards the end 2021, I found myself at a crossroads in life.  I could either continue down a path I had traveled for far too long(for presumably not much longer), or open myself to the possibilities of cleaner and healthier lifestyle, both mentally and physically.  Deciding to make big changes in life is no easy task and implementing them can be an even bigger challenge.  As I traversed this path of new-found awareness, I noticed a strong and ever-present nudge of encouragement towards patience, grace, and humility.  These are important aspects to not only afford others, but also yourself.  Without coming off as too pedestrian, I do feel as though that aforementioned presence was none other than my favorite boy, Rocky.  Perhaps a little cliche, but I honestly couldn't tell you that I would be alive, or at the very least in some sort of insurmountable fiduciary straits if it weren't for his guiding light.  We can learn a lot about ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses from our wet-nosed companions.

I wanted to honor and highlight what I felt was one of the most consequential bonds I had ever encountered in life.  To immortalize a friend who had changed my life forever.  I started designing a shirt for myself to sell at my merch table during  performances.  With the entire COVID pandemic experience not too far in the rear-view mirror, I'd be lying if I didn't say I have considered what it would be like to lose all gig work again as we did in 2020/2021.  What would it be like if I had suddenly lost all income and couldn't afford to take care of a friend who has always been there for me through the darkest and toughest of times?  Would I have to give up this beacon of hope and light?  It was at that point I decided I didn't want it to be something that I sold for personal financial gain, but perhaps something to help people in need of support for the only thing that keeps them going.  After a quick internet search, I couldn't believe it, but I had found a charity that is completely dedicated to keeping people and pets together, no matter the circumstances.  Then to my complete surprise, I found they were locally based in Carson City, NV.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless is the exact organization that I imagined.  I couldn't be happier to volunteer my art and time for this great cause.  After discussing a shirt collaboration, the idea of an event organically blossomed in the process.  Thanks to generosity from several sponsors and Spike McGuire at Brewery Arts Center, we're able to bring you a wonderfully curated live program in which 100% of ticket sales are going directly to Feeding Pets of the Homeless.

Find the shirt design and link to the event below.  The shirt is a pre-order and can be picked up on March 11th at Brewery Arts Center, or will ship on March 13th.   For more information on Feeding Pets of the Homeless, visit:  PetsoftheHomeless.org
